As a designer, Lisa Adams is compelled to improve the lives of others. She is being recognized with a Spirit Award for her philanthropic efforts working with Design for Dignity (D4D) and will be honored at a ceremony on May 10 at Venue One in Chicago. More than 450 people throughout the Midwest are expected to attend.
A not-for-profit, D4D is geared toward engaging the design community and its resources to respond to those in need. Recognizing that constrained budgets of many nonprofit organizations often preclude a comfortable and supportive physical environment, D4D transforms existing nonprofit spaces through pro bono design services and in-kind donations. The Spirit Awards recognize those who have dedicated their efforts to creating environments that inspire hope and comfort at nonprofit program sites.
Adams’ experience with D4D includes work at the Hollywood House, National Latino Educational Institute, Triad Health and Howard Brown Health Center, all in Chicago. With 18 years of experience, her award-winning work includes the IU Cancer Hospital, which has won three design awards including best architectural project in the State of Indiana. Adams is vice president and director of interiors for HKS Maregatti Interiors.
